Thought yall might find this interesting as my current knowledge of “what is that in the sky” can’t figure this one out… have been an amateur astronomer for quite some time. Not a plane, satellite, or a lens flare as that disappeared when the meteor finished disintegrating.
During the August 11-12th Perseid meteor shower peak there happened to be some quite strong auroral activity from where I’m at in Michigan. I happened to capture a lucky video where a prominent meteor flies through the aurora before burning up and disappearing. Right after it burns up and goes away, there’s two sources of light that appear and continue moving to the left.. I missed it when recording but only noticed when going back through the footage.
Recorded with military gen 3 night vision and my iPhone . IR pass filter used . Spectral range here was 685nm to around 940nm.
